Five More Minutes

I can hardly believe it's been nearly a year since I've last written on my blog. I've rededicated my self to writing more often and documenting our lives - the fun, the mundane, and everything in between.

There's a song by Scotty McGreery that's been playing on country radio that I love and I've been thinking about the lyrics a lot today because MY BABY IS ONE! It's called five more minutes and the chorus is below:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time rolls by the clock don't stop
I wish I had a few more drops
Of the good stuff, the good times
Oh but they just keep on flying
Right on by like it ain't nothing
Wish I had me a pause button
Moments like those Lord knows I'd hit it
And give myself five more minutes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I can hardly believe that Deklen is one year old. It seems like just yesterday he was born! I've been a bit emotional today as I've reflected on every minute and hour of this day that happened last year. His birth was such a special experience and he has been a bundle of JOY in our lives ever since. As fun as this age is right now, I found myself wishing for just five more minutes of his newborn-self to snuggle, hold, and kiss. However, I truly enjoy being this boy's mama and am looking forward to all the minutes ahead.

I had so much fun making Deklen's smash cake! He surprised me and wasn't too interested in the pile of sugar that was in front of him. We decided to try a cupcake instead and he went to town on that! I also enjoyed setting up a backdrop and snapping a few pics to document this moment (see below).

A little bit about Deklen:
- He's a great walker! He's been walking since 10 months old
- He can wave "Hi", says "Bye", "Mommy", "Dada", "More", "MMMM (for yum)", "Moo", "Baaa"
- He sleeps through the night and is down to one nap
- He loves food and would eat all day if he could
- He loves balls and has a decent throw!
- He HATES loud noises - especially when he's tired
- Has FINALLY cut his first tooth, just in time for his first birthday! (I was beginning to worry there weren't any teeth in there... 😅)

We love our Deky and can't wait for all the fun ahead of us. 😘

  1. Natalie you are so talented. I have to admit I even got a little emotional as well. I am so happy that my nieces and nephews are so blessed with wonderful children. We are all lucky to have them in our lives. They keep us all young at heart. Happy Birthday Dekklen, Aunt Cindy and Uncle Lie love you lots.
